Got to Love Horses

Although Melbourne Cup is the biggest horse race on the world stage, it is not the be all and end all of horse racing here in Melbourne. The Spring Racing Carnival is composed of 4 main days, the final of which was this Saturday and is called Stakes Day, featuring the running of the Emirates Stakes race. The weather could not have been more perfect for the day! A first glance of summer, with a 30+ degree day.

Jordanne, Jess and I enjoying the race crowd.
Now you may wonder what one does at the races, so i`ll give you a few key steps.
1) Get dressed up nicely
2) Get some drinks and walk around the track
3) Get some more drinks, set up a spot on the lawn and watch the races
4) Get some more drinks and advice for a real racing professional. Place some bets and lose all of it.

5) Remove the shoes that have been killing your feet all day and head home barefoot with no money.
Overall another fabulous day at the races. Sad it will be the last one of the year though. After the races we headed to China town to take some pictures and enjoy a dumpling dinner, which finished off another wonderful Saturday.

Sunday I got to attend another horse event that isn`t that well-known or popular here in Australia: Polo. I didn`t understand much of the game, but it was fun to get to experience another new sport!

A polo ball came our way. A lot lighter then I expected!
