A Great Sporting Weekend

Lets start with the Carlton Football Club.
One Saturday I took to the MCG to watch Carlton take on Essendon. Carlton put Essendon to a standstill in the 3rd quarter, not allowing them to kick any goals. This mark by number 1 (Andrew Walker) just made the entire game.

All in all another great night out at the MCG.

The next sporting event that was a success for Australia this weekend was the Tour De France.
The Victorian born Cadel Evans took home the yellow jersey with a outstanding performance in the final time trial.
The local newspaper had a great printed a great article on him: http://www.theage.com.au/sport/cycling/for-so-long-the-nearly-man-cadels-dream-finally-comes-true-20110725-1hvzr.html

Last, but certainly not least was the F1 German GP.
I am just about to watch the race in its entirety, but I had a little peak and saw that Australian Mark Webber came 3rd to score some much needed points in the World Championship fight.

For non-sports lovers this maybe a very boring post, but knowing me and my love for sport I thought it was important to celebrate all the victories that took place this weekend!

Goodbye to my 3 Little Monkey`s

Today was my last day with the Anson family. I am going to miss these 3 little monkey`s. As much as they were a pain some times they will always hold a very special place in my heart.

As for the plan for my next 7 months, well that`s still quite undecided. I am in search of another position in Melbourne, but am looking into doing some small trips around Australia to fill the gap between then and now. I will keep all you loyal viewers updated as my decisions progress, but for now just continuing to enjoy every part of Australia and loving every minute of it.

School Holidays Part 2 - Week 2

This week was not only school holidays but it was also my last week with the kids, and for some reason the week seemed a lot more fun because of it.

Monday and Tuesday were once again hangout days where we went to the park, skatepark and played around the house.

The kids loved skating so much last week that they begged me to take them again, so on Wednesday that is where we headed. Surprisingly for only there second time skating the kids improved greatly. Max even tried out hockey and found it harder then expected.

Thursday the Melbourne weather posed another not nice day, so we went and saw the movie Mr.Poppers Penguins, starring the Canadian Jim Carey.

Friday, my last day :(, we spent the day at a children`s play centre. This was one of the biggest and best I had been to. I even took a turn on the jungle gym, jumping castle and 4 giant slides.
And that ended the final week of school holidays!

An Adrenaline Filled Weekend

When I came to Australia there was a bucket list of things that I wanted to do, one of them being skydiving. My plan to skydive has been in the works for the last several weeks, and this Saturday the weather was finally good enough to go. The experience was exhilarating and fun, but definitely only once in a lifetime. It offered fabulous views of the city and surrounding areas. As much as it was fun, I won`t be jumping out of a plane again anytime soon.

(more pictures of the actual jump to come)

Saturday night brought about another trip to the footy stadium to watch Richmond take on Essendon. As you may have noticed i`ve become a little bit of a footy-a-holic. You just can`t help but love the sport!

Sunday was wet and rainy, which made for the perfect day to lounge around and start packing up. This is my last week with my current family before heading off to another stage of my Australian journey.

School Holidays Part 2 - Week 1

The first week of school holidays are officially over. I have to say they have been a lot more enjoyable the second time around, and the week has flown by!

Monday & Tuesday the kids and I did activities around the house, as the weather could not persuade us to do otherwise.

Wednesday we ventured out to the cinema to see Cars 2.

The kids had a great time and especially enjoyed the movie popcorn.

Thursday we joined some of the kids friends at a play centre called Lollipops. The great thing about these types of places is they wear the kids out for the rest of the day!

Today was probably the most fun I had with the kids when I took them ice skating. Melbourne has a wonderful new arena with 2 state of the art rinks, which made it perfect to take the kids to. Being from Australia the kids had never really skated before, which made the outing quite a challenge. But by the end they were all picking it up to there own degrees.

That concluded week 1 of the school holdiay`s. Next week is the final week of school holidays and my final week working with the family. Now onto some weekend enjoyment!
