Tick Tock... The Time is Coming
Well we are currently less then 2 weeks away (11 days to be exact) from departure, which at this point with so much left to do is a very scary thought!
This past weekend, I enjoyed my last night going out in Toronto with all my fabulous friends, which made it really hit home that time is slowly starting to run out.
I have learned over the last month that when you only have minimal time left with people you need to make the time count for everything that it is worth. I truly do value all my friends and family who are supporting me on this journey. It`s not going to be easy leaving you all, but this trip is an opportunity of a lifetime and I will have 75+ more years to spend near you all!
Guess I better get packing...

Movie Review: Country Strong

The last time I went to see a movie at the theatre I wrote a little review on it. So this weekend was my first time since then going to the theatre so I figured I would keep up with the tradition.
I saw the fabulous movie Country Strong starring Gwenyth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund. The heart felt story line combined with the superb acting and music had me hook line and sinker.

There really arn`t enough good things I could say about the movie. As soon as I got home I downloaded all the songs and have been listening to them on repeat for the past 2 days.
To give you a little taste this was one of my favorite parts of the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr19RRx6x9A
I would highly recommend this movie and I truly believe it should have a couple oscar nods being thrown its way.

11 is better than 10
Well 2011 has arrived, which means my departure date is slowly drawing closer. The weeks are going to fly past! But before getting caught up to much in 2011, I just wanted to take a moment and reflect on 12 memories of 2010.
January - After just coming off a fabulous family vacation, it was great to ring in the New Year tanned and surrounded by close friends.

February - I have to say looking back this was one of the most unreal months, watching Canada host the Olympics, it made me fall in love with my wonderful country even more. Our reading week trip to Tremblant just added to the phenomenal experience. Tremblant is a trip I will never forget and this was largely due to the amazing people I had to company of sharing it with.

March - You only get one chance to live through 4th year, so I did it up big time!

April - I finally did it... Finished University!

May - FRANCE!!!! A trip of a lifetime experiencing Paris and the Monaco Grand Prix. Once again... life changing!

June - Some great weekends spent going out downtown. Discovered Priceline for the first time, which has changed my life!

July - Got to meet some extended family from Scotland and show them Toronto!

August - To add to the summer memories, John Mayer rocked the stage at the Molson Ampitheatre again.

September - My first MAC Homecoming as an actual alumni. It maybe another few years before I make it back to MAC, so always a pleasure to say I experienced it!

October - Another experience of Western Homecoming, it never disappoints!

November - Gracie`s Toronto, has become a favorite hotspot!

December - The holiday season is always one of my favorites. Another great Christmas surrounded by a lot of family!

I have a feeling that 2011 is going to bring some just as awesome memories!

7 Weeks... gulp

It`s hard to fathom my adventure is only 7 weeks away from beginning. I actually just scared myself calculating that. Lately I have found myself thinking less about the practical things that need to be done and more about the adventurous.
My plan is to work for the family for the majority of my time in Australia, but afterwards I hope to take a month or so and do some true traveling of my own. I am constantly looking at maps of Australia and examining what other places are close that I could hop on a place and explore during my time. So far I have come up with Fiji, Bali and Hawaii.
Thinking about stuff like that makes me super excited to go, but there is also a part of me that pangs at what I will be leaving behind. The familiarity of my friends, family and surroundings, but this is a trip I need to take for myself. In our society we constantly find ourselves in the perpetual cycle of life. I have found this especially true lately as I begin to grow older. The days, weeks and months just zip by in front of your eyes as you continue through the rigor of life. Don`t get me wrong I have had some amazing memories and journey`s throughout, but I feel like this trip is going to help give me a new perspective.
Anyway, enough with my philosophicalness for now...

My Next Adventure
It has been 8 months since I became a graduate and 10 months since beginning to work full time. I definitely feel like I have grown up and learned a lot in these very few months.
The contract for my current job ends in February so lately I have been doing a lot of thinking about what comes next, and have come to a decision...

The world is a very vast, large place and I feel like I have only taken a minor step in exploring it, so I have decided to take on the continent of Australia.
The plan:
While over in Australia I will be living with a family and working as an Au Pair. This means during the week I look after the kids and during the evenings and weekends I have time to explore on my own. All my board and food is covered while living with the family, so it will be great to have a home base for the time I am over there. Speaking of time, the plan is to work for the family until probably October or November and then take a month to do some traveling of the beautiful country on my own.
I am at the point in my life where there is nothing tying me down, so it seems like the perfect time to pack up and go on a long adventure.
So up next my Australian adventure, with all details being broadcast live here from my blog!
